Bringing it Back
We are thrilled to announce Unfolding Humanity will be returning to Black Rock City in 2023 as an honoraria project. Originally exhibited in 2018, the piece is undergoing a full makeover. The interactive sculpture, a steel dodecahedron covered in over 17,000 LEDs, highlights the tension between technology and humanity. One of the pentagonal walls of the sculpture unfolds under human power – inviting visitors to experience infinity reflections in the mirrored interior. The piece alludies to both Albrecht Dürer’s 500-year-old unsolved math problem on unfolding polyhedra and a possible shape of the universe.
