Re:Emergence (2022, Black Rock City, Nevada, Burning Man) is a 20’ tall and 60’ long series of gates designed to spark joy, prompt reflection, and invite action. Dramatically extending design features from Emergence (2021), Re:Emergence demonstrates the extent to which structures shape, but can never fully constrain, human action. At times the design seems to require some forms of action (stooping at the saddle point, for example), but nothing stops you from exiting the tunnel, and climbing outside of the structure altogether.
